Housekeeper, Novotel and Ibis Styles Madrid City Las Ventas (Spain)

Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia's story

I haven’t been at the company very long, I started at the hotel in March 2023 as a housekeeper. Before, I worked mainly in various roles in kitchens.

Thanks to an acquaintance who worked at Novotel, she offered me the possibility of training in this new profession. I did not know what to expect, but I really enjoyed the training, I like what I do and I think I do a good job. I am proud of it.

I am very passionate about customer service, that is the most important part of my job. I like being to be in touch with clients, to meet guests and interact with them when I have a chance. I want to make sure they have had a good stay and a great experience with us.

I have only been here for a little over a year, but what I love is the ease and freedom of being able to do my job. I am trusted to do the very best, the company really has trust in me. I feel recognised and valued, and that means a lot.

I am the perfect example of how Accor offers opportunities to grow and train professionally in a role, even without any previous experience. I believe we as employees are cared for professionally and financially.

For me, the best moment of my career to date is the trust Accor, the hotel and my manager has in me and my work given the little time and little experience I still have in my position. The recognition and trust placed in me means I can give my very best.

I love the sense of achievement of a job well done when a guest leaves a note in the room upon checking out, congratulating me on my work and thanking for an effortless stay.

In the future, I would like to expand my knowledge and skills to other departments in the hotel, such as restaurant and bar. I know that Accor is very supportive in training and development, so I see myself growing in the years to come.
